# How to read an Oregon CCB license record

> Endorsements, bond, insurance, exempt and nonexempt, and what the CCB file leaves out.

## How to read these records

### Endorsements

The endorsement says what kind of work a license covers: residential or commercial, general or specialty, and
the level for commercial work. One license can carry several.

### Bond and insurance

The surety bond and liability insurance the CCB has on file, with company, amount and end date.

### Exempt or nonexempt

“Nonexempt” means the contractor has employees and must carry workers' compensation insurance. “Exempt” means no
employees. It is the contractor's declaration to the Board; an exempt contractor with workers on site is a question
to raise before the job.

### What is not here

Expired licenses, complaints and discipline, the responsible managing individual's name, phone numbers, and
individual certifications (home inspectors, locksmiths).
